Mushroom Maca Magic Energy Bites!
These muy simple but muy tasty-taste energy balls are made with dates, maca and hemp seeds PLUS the Malama Medicinal mushrooms mix of choice (we like to use our Mushroom Superfood Mix or Cordyceps Cacao Mix) - that's all you need! I'll admit I also added a cutesy little pinch of sea salt cuz I'm extra like that, but totally optional!
"What on earth is Maca?" Great question, friend!
Maca (pronounced Mah-Kuh) is adaptogenic plant that grows in Peru at high altitude in the Andes Mountains. Similar to Cordyceps mushrooms, maca is an excellent aide for stable, sustained energy but isn't a stimulant like caffeine which with repeated use overtime can dull those particular receptors and have diminishing effects. If you're anything me, your caffeine receptors were asking to take a breather... like 5-years ago...
Macas magic acts on your endocrine system (horomones n' stuff) to offer its benefits. Take this before a long day of work, hiking / exercise, or if you or a partner need a libido boost (yea, I said it....and I'll stand by it!).
Maca's root has long been known to increase endurance & general vitality.
Enough on all that....Here's what you'll need!
- Maca Powder
- Mālama Mushroom Powder of your choice
- Hemp Seeds
- Sea Salt
- Food processor or good blender!
The process: blend all ingredients into dough using a food processor, roll into balls and enjoy! (Easy as all heck and we're heckin' here for it.)
They're a great little sneeekkkk for pre-workout, on-the-go food, mid-day-pick-me-up, or hike-food thanks to the carbohydrates from the dates, fats and protein from the hemp seeds and energy from the mushrooms and maca!
Ingredients with Measurements:
- 1 cup tiiiiightly packed pitted medjool dates. *tiiiight*
note: you’ll want softer medjool dates for this recipe. If they’re very dry, try soaking in hot water for 10 minutes, then draining before use.
- 2 tbsp maca powder
- 1 tbsp Malama Mushroom extract powder of choice (use a cacao mix if you want them to be more chocolate-y!)
- 1 cup hemp seeds
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp sea salt (optional)
Mix all thems ingredients in a food processor until it forms a dough. Roll into 10-12 balls. Store in the fridge in a container. Good job. Then eat them all.
*optional: try rolling each ball in cacao or maca powder, hemp seeds, or coconut flakes for some texture.... hussahhhh!
